Licences and domains

How many websites your licence covers, what counts as a website, and how to reinstall, move to another domain or upgrade.

How many websites a licence covers

Each licence covers a number of websites, set by the product you bought. The product's page on startmymarketplace.com says how many, for example "Licence for 1 site". Your licence's page in your StartMyMarketplace account lists the websites it's active on, under Websites.

  • A website already on your licence can always connect again, even when the licence is full.
  • A new website takes a free place on the licence. When none is left, it's refused with "This licence covers … site(s) and is already active on: …". Contact support to move the licence or to add websites to it.

What counts as one website

  • www.example.com and example.com are the same website.
  • A subdomain is a website of its own: shop.example.com and example.com each take a place.
  • Install at the root of a domain or subdomain. A store can't run in a sub-folder such as example.com/shop.
  • A test or staging copy on its own address counts as a website like any other.

Reinstall on the same domain

Reinstalling, or moving to a new server on the same domain, needs nothing from us. Your store proves it owns the domain through a file the licence server checks at /.well-known/prizex-activation/, so the domain must answer over HTTPS without redirecting elsewhere. This can happen automatically up to 5 times in 30 days for one installation; after that, contact support to reset it. See Move your store to a new server or domain.

Move to another domain

  1. Open your licence

Sign in to your StartMyMarketplace account and open the licence.

  2. Press Move

Under Websites, press Move next to the website you're moving, and type the new domain.

  3. Confirm

If a move is paid for your licence, you pay at checkout and the move happens as soon as the payment lands. If you have a free move, press Move for free. If the page says moves for your licence are handled by our support team, contact us and we'll move it.

  4. Install on the new domain

Use the same purchase key. Your licence and support stay the same.

  • The old domain stops getting updates and downloads at once.
  • After a move, the page shows how long until the licence can be moved again. If you need it sooner, contact support.
  • If your account has two-step sign-in, you'll be asked for a code.

Upgrade your licence

If a bigger licence type is available for your product, your licence's page has an Upgrade tab with the price. Upgrading keeps your purchase key and your websites, and never takes anything away.

Support and updates

Your licence's page shows when your support period ends, and you can renew it there. It also shows whether your licence is lifetime. Add-on and theme updates install from your admin panel; see Back up and update safely.
